Federal Employees Find Face-to-Face Meetings Essential to Mission

A new survey of federal employees who have endured cutbacks in travel and conferences shows that a whopping nine out of 10 believe that face-to-face events and meetings are key to effective performance and fulfillment of agency missions. As many as 92 percent said engaging with colleagues, peers, partners and vendors in person “improves their ability to do their jobs effectively,” in a survey of 100 agency employees involved in meeting planning at 35 agencies conducted March 2-10 by the private Meetings Mean Business Coalition. Fully 84 percent agreed that “America’s future innovation and competitiveness is tied to engaging, collaborating and learning with those inside and outside of government,” said the survey released on Tuesday. USAFRICOM Partnership Forum Announced!

The U.S. Africa Command will be holding their USAFRICOM Partnership Forum (APF) on June 9-11, 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany. The command is working to "operationalize" relationships with Non-Federal Entities (NFEs) to support the Theater Campaign Plan. The intent is to create a flexible structure for USAFRICOM and interested NFEs to operate within, resulting in matched expectations and goals. This event is expected to bring together hundreds of personnel from USAFRICOM, federal government, international government, commercial industry, academia, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), corporate social foundations, professional associations, international organizations, and other private entities. The forum will begin with 2 days of presentations related to problem sets facing the Command and the continent of Africa, followed by a Partner Solutions Showcase which will allow for product and service demonstrations and exchange between government and industry in a hands on networking forum.
